The Account Director will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong client relationship while successfully executing social and digital campaigns. You will manage several work streams across the social AOR client relationship of a Fortune 100 brand, while helping to organically grow the business through outstanding results, strategic thinking and client partnerships. 

This role requires an enthusiasm for all things social and digital along with a strong background in leading a large team internally and navigating large client and agency partner relationships. This person will have the appetite to create outstanding work, be confident to shepherd a team into emerging territories and strive to be the best part of everyone’s day. . 

While we don’t have set requirements for coming into the office, we are requiring this person to be in the NYC area for occasional IRL meetings, productions, etc.

What you do:

Account Management

  • Confidently and strategically leading a team to deliver digital and social creative and innovative ideas that meet client objectives, in partnership with the Account Director
  • Planning all client engagements including: goals, deliverables, schedules and budgets by managing the workflow process
  • With collaboration from project management, prioritize projects and resources and work across accounts to ensure that teams are staffed appropriately
  • Partnering with Creative and Strategy to provide agency recommendations for new innovative tools, vendors, technologies and digital/social platforms
  • Being a strong digital/social representative amongst integrated team - you know all the latest that is happening across channels/platforms, you can confidently guide the team on the best way to leverage features & functionality by platform and will guide clients externally on where to focus
  • Participating in overall communications planning for the brand. Taking an active and vocal role in the Integrated Agency Team (IAT) planning process. 
  • Serving as the trusted voice of the consumer by assimilating customer and marketplace insights into the development of creative strategies
  • Using analytics to drive decisions in a way that yields sustained, measurable results
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail, but also comfortable outside of process and doing things that have never been done before. Proactively pursuing opportunities that may result in new projects or work streams (read: revenue)
  • Have a strategic gut, a creative understanding and motivation to integrate technology into our work. You should be able to present strategy meaningfully, defend creative to clients and translate the value of technology to clients and partners. 

Financial Planning

  • Manage budgets and work with operations/resourcing to ensure the team is operating efficiently to keep the agency profitable. Negotiating proposal and budget with client, making necessary modifications and arranging contract signing (including writing of scopes of work)
  • Keep track of the SOW to ensure we’re delivering what has been promised, that necessary resources are being planned in advance and communicating with clients when certain tasks are out of scope. 
  • Working closely with Finance on forecasting, billing, and reconciling fee and budgets

Leadership

  • Helping mentor the Account Management team, which includes: providing adequate training, overseeing and conducting performance reviews, and resolving issues/problems as they arise 
  • Modeling strong presentation skills that encourage participation and effect desired outcomes for meetings
  • Moving quickly and effectively. Ensuring the use of “best practices” and efficient processes across the department and agency
  • Being an active scholar of the Internet. Reading the trades, the blogs, and being able to make recommendations based on trends and internet happenings. 
  • Understand that this industry is sometimes chaotic and people are looking to you to set the tone and vibe that things are under control and on the right path

What you need: 

  • 7+ years of experience within an advertising agency setting
  • 2+ years of experience managing others
  • Demonstrated experience running large engagements with large clients or equivalent
  • Experience with various projects types, including web, mobile, video, brand, and strategic consulting
  • Proven negotiation skills experience, especially contract negotiations, with both clients and partners
  • Strong knowledge of digital and web development technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Social landscape and platforms
  • Experience working with and leading with multiple layers of client marketing teams - from Brand Manager to Senior Marketing Directors
  • Ability to add structure and process when project plan is unclear/undefined - not every ask comes with a perfect brief

Location: NYC, hybrid

Salary range: $120k-$160k

The starting salary will match the skills and experience in the role assessed during the interview process.
